I liked the discipline the competion gave me but now I'm just looking for an honest app with real customer service and a format that doesn't make me feel like I'll be doing this forever without ever getting anywhere. No bigotry or hate allowed against others in this app and it's reflected in the sentences we practice also. One good thing about Duo is that everyone is included. I have lost hundreds and hundreds of points I have earned and prizes for work seem to dissapear overnight regularly. My guess is that they dont want us to share our experiences with other users. But they took it all down when they started SuperDuolingo. The so called "lessons" are now just sentence excercises but there are no lessons to explain why you are doing what you're doing.We used to have a forum where we could ask all kinds of questions to all the other users. 99 you spent will turn into multiple $4.99 - 10.99 purchases. If you compete that is all you will do and if you aren't paying attention that. Competition is done in points not in learning. This allows anyone to win timed tests or make tons of extra points and rise to the top. Their newest idea is to charge us for the gems/lingots that we once had to earn. If you lose your points or your money don't bother writing because no one will answer.
It seems to be run by volunteers who will answer you once or twice but that's it. The worst things about Duolingo is that they have NO Customer Service, no teachers and no one to ask any questions to at all. I have been plodding my way through Spanish for almost four years now, although I have definitely improved it is not worth the amount of time and money you put in. Not worth losing your time, money and sanity!
